# Warranties

> Register an appliance's warranty so eeva can warn you before it expires.

Registering a warranty tells eeva when your coverage runs out. eeva reminds you 30 days before it expires and surfaces extended-coverage options, so you're never caught out by a lapsed warranty. You register a warranty from the appliance it belongs to.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the appliance">
    From the Home tab, open the appliance under "Appliances".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to Warranty status">
    In the "Warranty status" section, tap "Register warranty" (or "+ Add").
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the details">
    Enter the "Purchase Date" and "Expiry Date" — eeva calculates the "Warranty Period" for you — then add the "Retailer" and "Price".

  <Step title="Save">
    Tap "Save". eeva needs the purchase date, expiry date, retailer, and price before it can save.

<Warning>
  You must have a purchase date to track a warranty. Without one, eeva shows "Cannot track warranty without purchase date" and can't set the expiry reminder.

## Warranty statuses

## Upload a warranty document

You can attach the proof of coverage — a receipt or a warranty card — to the warranty. In the "Warranty document" area, upload a JPG, PNG or PDF. Keeping it here means it's on hand if you ever need to make a claim.
