# Tasks

> Create, assign, and track the recurring chores and to-dos that keep your household running.

Tasks are the reminders and chores your household needs to stay on top of — from changing a filter to renewing the car registration. You can assign them to members, set reminders, and make them repeat. You reach tasks from the Household tab.

## Open your tasks

Go to the Household tab and open the "Tasks" section — tap View all to see everything. The list has a search field and filter pills: "All", "Overdue", "Due soon", and "Done". Each task shows an urgency pill — "Overdue", "Due soon", or "Done". Tap the + to add one.

If your home is brand new, the Household tab shows "Let's get started!" with "Create a task" and "Add a subscription". Tap "Create a task" to open the same form.

## Create a task

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start a new task">
    Tap + to open "New Task".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it">
    In "Task title", type what needs doing (for example, "Replace HVAC filter"). The placeholder reads "Enter a title".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign to members">
    Under "Assign to", tap the household member pills to choose who's responsible. You can select more than one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a category">
    Tap "Category" to open the "Save to a category" sheet and choose one: "Appliances", "Household", "Insurance", or "Maintenance".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set a date and time">
    Choose a "Date" and a "Time" if the task is tied to a day.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a reminder">
    Under "Reminder", pick when eeva should nudge you: "At time of event", "5/10/15/30 minutes before", "1/2 hours before", "1/2 days before", or "1 week before".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set how often it repeats">
    Under "Frequency", keep "One time" for a single task, or pick "Weekly", "Monthly", "Bi-Monthly", or "Annually" to make it recurring.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add notes (optional)">
    Use "Notes" for any detail — a part number, a phone number, a reminder to yourself.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Tap "Save". The task appears in your list.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Fields marked with \* — "Task title", "Assign to", and "Category" — are required.
</Note>

## Recurring tasks

A task repeats whenever its "Frequency" is anything other than "One time". eeva schedules the next occurrence automatically after each one comes due.

<Warning>
  A recurring task needs a "Date". If you choose a repeating frequency, set a date before you save.
</Warning>

## Mark done and reopen

When a task is finished, swipe it and choose "Done" — it moves under the "Done" filter with a "Done" pill. Changed your mind? Swipe again and choose "Reopen". You can also open a task and use "Mark as done" or "Mark as not done".

## Filter and find

Use the pills to narrow the list: "Overdue" for anything past due, "Due soon" for what's coming up, and "Done" for completed tasks. The search field finds a task by title.

## Delete a task

Swipe a task and choose Delete to remove it.

### Deleting vs. marking done

Mark as done keeps the task in your records under the "Done" filter, and you can reopen it later. Delete removes the task entirely. For a recurring task, delete when you no longer want it to repeat at all.

## A task I completed came back

That's expected for recurring tasks. Marking one occurrence done schedules the next one based on the "Frequency" you set. If you don't want it to return, delete the task instead.
