# Alerts & activity

> Understanding the Alerts list and Upcoming activities on your Dashboard, and how alerts link to appliances.

The Dashboard surfaces two running lists: Alerts, for things that need attention now, and Upcoming activities, for what's on the horizon. Both start empty and fill in as eeva learns about your home.

## Alerts

Open the Alerts list from the Alerts section on the Dashboard. Each alert is tied to an appliance, and there are three types:

<Columns cols={3}>
  <Card title="Safety Recall" icon="triangle-exclamation">
    Shown in red and marked "Act now". Your appliance has an open safety recall.
  </Card>

  <Card title="In Repair" icon="wrench">
    An appliance currently being serviced.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Warranty Expiring" icon="shield-check">
    A warranty ending soon, showing "Overdue" or the number of days left (for example "14 days").
  </Card>
</Columns>

Tap any alert to open the related appliance, where you can see the details and take action.

When there are no alerts, the list reads "Nothing here yet!" with "All your important appliance alerts will show up here."

## Alerts vs. notifications

These two look similar but do different jobs:

* **Alerts** live on your Dashboard and Home. They reflect your household's current state and stay put until the situation is resolved or you dismiss them.
* **The bell (Notifications)** is a log of messages eeva has already sent you. Each one fired once, at a moment in time. See [Notification history](/06-dashboard-alerts/notification-history).
* **"Recently from eeva"** shows what eeva did on its own — like fetching a manual or catching a recall.

<Note>
  Your notification preferences control whether and how eeva sends you a message — they don't hide the Alerts feed. To clear an alert, dismiss it or resolve what caused it.
</Note>

<Note>
  Dismissing an alert applies to your whole household — if one member dismisses it, it's hidden for everyone. If the underlying situation changes later, the alert can come back.
</Note>

## Upcoming activities

The Upcoming activities list gathers what's coming up across your home: tasks, maintenance, repairs, and warranty items. Tap any item to open it and see the full detail.

### What's the difference between an alert and an upcoming activity?

Alerts need attention now — an open recall, an expiring warranty, an appliance in repair. Upcoming activities are simply what's scheduled ahead: tasks, maintenance, repairs, and warranty milestones you'll want to plan around.

## I tapped an alert but nothing about the appliance looks wrong

Alerts open the related appliance so you can review it. For a recall, check the recall details on the appliance; for a warranty alert, review the warranty dates. If the item has since been resolved, the alert clears on its own.

## My lists are empty

That's expected for a new home. Add appliances and log tasks or maintenance, and alerts and activities appear here automatically.
