# Organize your life (Life Tab)

**A collection of all your action items, house details, and life areas — organized by category to house everything that gets stored in them.**

The Life tab is where your physical home life becomes digital. It's a visual grid that categories all your [DENTs](/core-features/four-item-types) (item types), your household members, your House information, and various life areas.

spaces (rooms, outdoor areas), appliances (fridge, washer, HVAC), and utilities (electricity, water, internet) — and each one can hold all the tasks, notes, documents, and contacts related to it.

## The Hive Grid

When you open the Life tab, you'll see a **hexagonal grid of Hives** — your home & life, visualized. Each represents something in your life at home:

* **DENTs in full view** — ‘View all’ areas for specific item types, like tasks or notes
* **My Hive** — a place to manage your household members
* **House Hive** — a place to manage your appliances, utilities, property info, and spaces
* **Other life areas:** Food, Travel, Vehicles, Pets, Holidays, Money, Health — places to store action items within a specific category of life

Tap any Hive to see everything linked to it.

#### What's inside a Hive

When you tap a Hive, you'll see its detail view with all the connected items:

* **Tasks** — "Replace furnace filter," "Clean the gutters"
* **Events** — "HVAC inspection, March 15"
* **Notes** — "WiFi password: TacoTuesday42"
* **Documents** — Warranty PDFs, manuals, receipts

This is the magic of the Life tab: instead of searching through random notes or trying to remember where you saved that warranty, you just tap House and everything's right there.

## Setting up your House Hive

### Choosing your ownership type

To make sure eeva accurately reflects your home situation, let eeva know if you rent or own.

1. Go to the Life tab
2. Open the House Hive
3. Open Property Info
4. Tap the ‘edit’ icon in the top right corner
5. Choose your ownership type: Rent or Own
6. The categories visible within Property Info will change to reflect your choice

### Editing the House Hive

To add a new space, appliance, or utility:

1. Go to the **Life** tab
2. Navigate to **Spaces**, **Appliances**, or **Utilities**
3. Tap ‘add’
4. Give it a name and fill in details
5. Save — it appears in your grid

You can edit any of these pages by tapping it and updating the details.

### Scanning appliance labels

Here's a fun one: for appliances, you can [scan the label](/core-features/appliance-scanner) (the sticker with the model number, serial number, etc.) and eeva's AI will automatically pull up relevant information. No more squinting at tiny text or digging through junk drawers for the manual.

View the [Appliance Scanner doc](/core-features/appliance-scanner) to learn more!

## Linking items to Hives

Any task, event, note, or document you create can be linked to a Hive. When you're creating or editing an item, just select the relevant house category (appliances or utilities) or life area (vehicles or health). This is what makes the Life tab so useful over time — your home life gets digitized the more you use eeva.

<Tip>
  **Tip:** Start with the rooms you spend the most time managing — kitchen, laundry, garage. Add appliances as you need them. You don't have to map your entire home on day one.
