Ask eeva can do more than talk. From the chat you can scan an appliance’s label, and eeva shows you cards to review before anything is saved. This page covers the scan flow and how the different cards fit together. For the wider chat, see Ask eeva.

Scan an appliance from chat

1

Open the attachment menu

Tap the ”+” in the composer and choose “Scan an appliance label”.
2

Point at the label

Aim your camera at the appliance’s model label — usually a sticker on the back, top, or inside. Hold steady while eeva reads it.
3

Review the scan card

eeva shows a scan card with what it read: “Brand”, “Model number”, and “Appliance type”. Check each field and fix anything that’s off.
4

Save

Tap “Save” to add the appliance to your home.

Scan cards vs. action cards

Both cards let you review before saving, but they show up in different moments:

Scan card

Appears right after you scan a label. It’s for confirming what eeva read from the appliance — “Brand”, “Model number”, “Appliance type” — then you “Save”.

Action card

Appears when eeva proposes to create or edit a record from the conversation — a repair, maintenance entry, task, appliance, or warranty. It shows the details with “Confirm”, “Edit”, and “Skip”. Confirming shows “Added” and an “Open” button.
eeva never saves from a card until you act on it. A scan card waits for “Save”; an action card waits for “Confirm”. Nothing is written to your home behind your back.

How citations fit in

When you ask eeva a question about an appliance — say, how to clean a filter — the answer comes with source citations: tappable chips like “Bosch Manual · pg. 12”. Tap one to open the exact manual page the answer drew from. Cards and citations work as a pair: citations back up the answers eeva gives, while cards let you review anything eeva wants to save. Together they mean you can always see where an answer came from and exactly what will be recorded.

The scan couldn’t read the label

Make sure the model label is well lit and fully in frame, and hold the camera steady. If eeva still can’t read it, you can edit the “Brand”, “Model number”, and “Appliance type” on the scan card by hand before you “Save”.

I want to change details before saving

On a scan card, edit the fields directly, then “Save”. On an action card, tap “Edit” to adjust the details before you “Confirm”. To discard an action card entirely, tap “Skip”.
